“A larger-than-life AR experience”
“A 300-foot J Balvin walking across the country to fans homes to drop the new iPhone 15”
The larger-than-life immersive experience that democratized drop culture
Drop culture and influencer-led giveaways have gotten out of control lately, resulting in occasional riots and people getting hurt. So, for the most anticipated release of the year for the Hispanic audience —the iPhone 15—Verizon wanted to reset drop culture for good, while dialing up the hype.
The result was “Catch my iPhone”, an immersive AR experience turning Verizon’s iPhone launch into a larger-than-life, personalized drop moment, where a 300-foot digital twin of latin music icon J Balvin— walked across the country to fans’ homes dropping the new iPhone for them to catch.
The experience allowed fans to explore the new iPhone’s features, pre-order, and catch it virtually to win it. It also integrated other major drop moments that happened the same week, including J Balvin’s new single “Dientes” and his new Nike collab.
‘Catch my iPhone’ took the exclusivity of drop culture out of the big cities, and made it inclusive through technology, opening a new reality, and spreading the hype all across the country.
The results were massive. In just a week, over 250,000 people caught over 40,000 drops per day, our social launch videos got more than 20 Million views, we saw over 86,367 social mentions, pre-order traffic exceeded Verizon’s benchmark by 5X and was 1000% higher than the previous iPhone launch.
